ABOUT

EagBeerFest started in 2015 with nothing more than a passion to showcase Scottish food and drink, and a (very) muddy field.

Arising from the splashes of the quagmire was a shared belief and passion for that from our loyal patrons – as well as a desire for a good old party.

So we returned with an improved offering in 2016 and every year since (where possible), securing a place in both the local social calendar and that of the Scottish craft beer community.

Now, nine years and a global pandemic on, 2024 will be our eighth event.

We have grown and refined what we do over the years and are now one of Scotland’s biggest and most respected one-day beer festivals, culminating in us being crowned ‘Best Food and Drink Event in Scotland’ in 2019 – something we are immensely proud of and keen to re-establish.

But whilst we have undoubtedly grown in size and reputation, the event has always been run by just Fraser and Laura and our ethos remains the same.

We want to continue improving what it is we do, to continue changing, adapting, and taking risks to ensure we are offering more and more value for our loyal supporters – but we retain our desire to celebrate the best of Scottish food and drink, and support local.

Keeping things as local as possible is vitally important to us.

We believe in supporting and showcasing local efforts, using local businesses and services where possible, and giving back to our local community; supporting groups, initiatives, and individuals where we can.

We believe in being accessible and attainable, and believe we provide a well-priced community event that specialises in craft beer and Scottish street food. A relaxed, family-friendly event, children are catered for with specific entertainment and food and drink offerings just for them.

We even welcome well-behaved doggies with open arms and a treat!

For us, the event is the perfect way to bring our community together – the community we live and work in – and celebrate the best our country has to offer, with some good beers, good food, good music and very good times.

So, if you fancy joining us for a celebration of Scotland, summer, and community on July 6, then we’d love to have you!

You don’t need to know your hoppy IPAs from your saisons, or your Pilsners from you stouts – you just need a desire and open mind to try what’s on offer and have a great time with family and friends!

We’ll see you in July!

FAQs

WHEN IS THE FESTIVAL?

This year’s festival takes place on Saturday, July 6. It runs from 12pm to 7pm.

WHEN CAN I BUY TICKETS?

Tickets for the 2024 event will go on public sale on Friday, February 23 here. There is a ticket sales event at the Eglinton Arms Hotel in the village for locals to get their tickets first, and in person, on Thursday, February 15. It starts at 6pm.

I CAN’T FIND MY TICKETS. HELP?

Tickets will have been sent to the email address linked to your PayPal account or to the address given at the ticket sales event if attended. Please check spam folders for this account. If no joy finding them, ping us an email or DM and we’ll help locate them.

CAN I GET A REFUND?

Tickets are non-refundable, however, such is the demand, you should be able to transfer these to a private buyer via our social media platforms no bother.

HOW DO I GET IN?

Once you have purchased tickets, you will receive an email with a QR code to the registered payment address – this is your ticket. It will be scanned from your phone or print off, on the day. You will access the site from the Toll House at the bottom of Cheapside Street in the village, queue patiently and politely, until scanned in via our security and ticket office team, given your reusable pint cup, and a hand stamp to let staff know you have been checked-in properly. The event site is a private site on the day and is barriered. Access can only be attained via the ticket office entry point. Security is in operation. Anyone trying to gain access without a ticket will be barred from attending.

IS THE FESTIVAL ACCESSIBLE FOR THOSE WITH ADDITIONAL PHYSICAL NEEDS?

Yes. Although we are an outdoor festival and the event is held on grass, there are paths running across the event site that help with wheelchairs, walking aids, and providing an even ground. It will be cramped on the day, but we can offer additional help to make your visit as enjoyable and accessible as possible.

CAN WE PARK ON-SITE?

No. Any parking on site is purely for event staff, service providers, and traders. We would recommend parking on Montgomery Street, Mid Road, Polnoon Street, behind Montgomery Halls. The primary school on Strathaven Road may also be an option – please check beforehand. Do not park in the Eglinton Arms Hotel or across anyone’s driveway / access lanes. Parking is monitored.

WHAT WILL THE WEATHER BE LIKE?

Who knows, be prepared!

WHAT SHOULD I BRING WITH ME?

A willingness to have fun and try the best of Scottish produce. A polite attitude. Cash / change and cards for payment, particularly cash! A pack-away raincoat, brolly, sunscreen.

WHAT SHOULDN’T I BRING WITH ME?

Alcohol. Drugs. Glass. Sass. Misbehaved dogs – and misbehaved adults. Barbecues. Gas grills. Anything to start a fire.

DOES THE FESTIVAL HAVE WI-FI?

No. We are an outdoor festival and run off local coverage, 4G. There will be loads of people attending on the day and the coverage will struggle. Those on EE and Three networks will have better coverage. This does impact point of sale card systems for vendors, so bring plenty of cash.

DO I NEED TO BRING CASH?

Yes. Please bring cash / change, don’t just bring all your £50 notes and hope for change, please bring £1 coins, £5 notes…as well as your £50 notes. Cards are accepted at vendors’ discretion.

ARE CHILDREN WELCOME?

U18s are welcome and we do have child-specific entertainment and catering. Kids do not need tickets, however, they must be accompanied by an adult at all times. We allow one child per responsible adult. Children will receive a separate hand stamp from adults

WHAT FACILITIES ARE THERE?

On site we have food and drink vendors, access to free drinking water, toilets, a First Aid tent (ticket office), security staff, event staff, live music, children’s entertainment, and some small retail offerings (crafters).

CAN WE BRING GAZEBOS & CHAIRS?

Please do. However, please liaise with the group you are coming with / your neighbours et al. about sharing. Please also follow guidance on where to set up your gazebo on the day (on the lower quadrant of the site, towards the bridge where the smaller marquee is). Don’t set up your gazebo in the dance tent.

WHERE ARE THERE CASH MACHINES?

Scotmid on Cheapside St, across from event site. Morrisons Local store, Glasgow Road

HOW DO I GET THERE?

4A bus takes you from the village to West End of Glasgow via Clarkston, Muirend, Southside, and the reverse of course. Eastwood Mearns is the local taxi firm, will be busy, so booking in advance is recommended. Uber drivers do come to the village. Hairmyres, Thorntonhall, Busby, Clarkston are all nearby train stations. Eaglesham does not have a train station.

IS THERE NEARBY ACCOMMODATION?

The Eglinton Arms Hotel, local B&Bs, Busby Hotel, Redhurst Hotel, Air BnB

ARE THERE ANY PUBS NEARBY?
